“Change begins in small passions, brave ideas, and everyday actions. When we share our wisdom with heart, we inspire others to lead the planet toward a better future.”
Katherina Bach

KATHERINA BACH
Katherina Bach is an international storyteller, climate pioneer, and founder of the Generation RE Movement—an initiative that empowers children, families, and organisations to rediscover their strengths and become agents of positive change. She is also the creator of the Magenta Cycle, a regenerative business model that brings science, creativity, and hope together to inspire new ways of living and learning.

Katherina builds worlds where imagination meets environmental science. Her most recent creation, Pollsmor and the Five Kingdoms, is a transmedia universe that blends humour, fantasy, and ecological wisdom to help children understand how nature works—and how they can help protect it. Together with characters like Mr. Pollsmor, Super Tree Hero, Mushi, Zao Zao, Floui and Nomathemba, she teaches kids that even small actions can have big effects when we understand the planet’s secrets.

Katherina’s journey began long before her stories. She was one of Colombia’s early leaders in climate change, serving as the country’s Chief Negotiator at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2006. She led groundbreaking negotiations with JP Morgan for the expansion of Las Gaviotas, a visionary ecological project now recognised internationally for its innovation and social impact. She later advised national ministries, global foundations, and private-sector leaders on carbon markets, climate finance, and large-scale sustainability strategies.
For more than a decade, she worked with the ZERI Foundation and the Blue Economy movement, helping translate systemic science into accessible educational tools. Her illustrations for Gunter’s Fables—a series that brings environmental concepts to life for children—received the Alibaba Foundation & Chinese Government Award for Best Series on Nature Education (2019). She has been invited more than ten times to China to give lectures and creative workshops for children and educators.
Today, Katherina continues to blend education, art, and environmental storytelling. She writes and illustrates books, develops educational curricula, and speaks around the world about leadership, intergenerational influence, and the power of imagination. Through her initiative “Intergenerational Continuity: How Women Can Change the World”, she explores how mothers, caregivers, and teachers can shape future leaders in ways that strengthen communities and ecosystems.
Katherina has lived in Colombia, the United States, Japan, Europe, and South Africa, gaining diverse cultural and ecological perspectives that infuse her work. She is also a certified snake handler, an ecological toys designer, and an enthusiastic adventurer who believes deeply in connecting with the natural world.
Across all her projects, her mission remains the same:
to help children and adults remember that they are powerful, creative, and capable of building a more sustainable world—one story, one idea, and one small action at a time.
